What is SAD Syndrome?

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD Syndrome) is a type of depression caused by seasonal low light conditions. Although the symptoms of SAD differ with each person, usually low energy levels, interrupted sleep patterns and sadness are reported. Vitamin therapy can help through the winter, and many sufferers find relief by adding Vitamin D, B’s and C to their diet until spring and longer days bring the sunshine back. Getting outside in the fresh air and exercise can help beat the winter blahs, and one of the most effective ways to combat SAD, is through light therapy.
Light therapy lamps are engineered to imitate natural sunlight to maintain serotonin levels, the “happy chemical” that naturally occurs with light. Therapy lamps help boost energy and improve sleep patterns, with 20 to 30 minutes of use each day.
